Taylor Swift Wins Big at Teen Choice Awards
Taylor Swift led the winners at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards as the country music star took home six surfboards, the show’s equivalent of trophies, during Sunday’s first-ever live telecast of the annual event.
Swift proved she still has very strong appeal with teenagers as she collected some of the most coveted awards of the show, including the Ultimate Choice Award. The 21-year-old also won awards for female Red Carpet Icon, Country Artist, Country Track for “Mean,” Choice Female Artist, and Choice Break-Up song for “Back to December.” Swift, who has been a regular winner at the Awards since she burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old, encouraged teenagers to continue to embody the characters that they’ve become known for, such as being “intense” and “romantic.” “I think all those things are amazing things, and to all the teens watching, I hope you never lose those things,” she said.
Young couple Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were also big winners as they won five and four surfboards, respectively. Gomez won, among others, the Choice Love Song for “Love You Like a Love Song” and Female Hottie, while Bieber took the “Male Hottie” and Choice Villain for his “CSI” appearance.
