Teenager discovers he’s been juggling with WW2 bombs
A curious schoolboy from Essex, England received the shock of his life after discovering that his makeshift juggling clubs were actually incendiary bombs from World War II.
After finding them in a farmland, 13-year-old Ben Stannard began playing with the weapons because he thought they were harmless. An Army bomb squad later destroyed the devices in a controlled explosion in Margaretting.
From Total Essex:
“I was waiting for my mum to pick me up and they caught my eye,” Ben said.
“I thought they were strange, but just bits of concrete, so I started to throw them up and down.
“Then I noticed the serial number on one of them. Everyone is amazed. But I am glad to still be alive and will be more cautious in future.”
