La Liga heavyweights FC Barcelona meet Premier League giants Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final showdown.
The Catalans are the clear favorites to progress into the semi-finals as Lionel Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thierry Henry look to take a lead back to the Camp Nou for the second leg. However, Arsene Wenger has warned Barca that his young Arsenal squad can cause their star-studded team plenty of mess as the North Londoners look to knock the current CL champions out of the competition.
Meanwhile, Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas is winning his battle to be fit for tonight’s match. The 22-year-old midfielder suffered severe bruising to his knee at Birmingham on Saturday and has since used an ice machine and had intensive treatment to get the swelling down.
But Fabregas is “desperate” to face his former club. He said: “Ever since the draw was made I’ve dreamt about this game and I am desperate to play in it.”
The match kicks-off at 20:45 CET.
UPDATE: Fabregas managed to score from a penalty kick in the dying minutes of the game to end the match with a 2-2 draw against Barca.
