UEFA Champions League: Inter Milan vs. CSKA Moscow
Italian heavyweights Inter Milan will face CSKA Moscow (Moskva) tonight at the Luzhniki Stadium for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash.
This is the first time in their history that the Army Men have reached this stage of Europe’s elite club competition. Spartak Moscow was the last team from their country to reach the last four, in 1991, back in the European Cup days.
“We have to score against Inter, and what’s important is that we have absolutely nothing to lose,” defender Alexey Berezutskiy told the press.
The Italian outfit, meanwhile, will be attempting to reach the semifinals for the first time in seven years. The Nerazzurri should be at full strength this evening, with Brazil centre back Lucio and his midfield compatriot Thiago Motta available after being suspended for the first leg.
During that match, Inter’s Diego Milito scored the only goal to beat CSKA 1-0. A draw against the Russians this evening will be enough for Internazionale to advance to the next stage.
The match kicks-off at 18:30 CET.
UPDATE: The Nerazzurri reached the last four of the Champions League for the first time since 2003 as they beat CSKA 1-0, thanks to a Wesley Sneijder free-kick.
