UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid vs. FC Zurich

Cristiano Ronaldo will make his return from a long injury layoff when Real Madrid faces FC Zurich this evening (20:45 CET) in another exciting UEFA Champions League clash.

The 24-year-old Portuguese winger has been out of action with an ankle injury since last month, but he has been named in the squad for tonight’s game as Los Blancos look to secure a spot in the knock-out stages of the tournament.

So far CR9 has scored nine goals from his first seven games and will be looking to add to that tally on his comeback. He has netted four times in just two CL appearances, against Zurich and Marseille.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men are well positioned in Group C, level on points with AC Milan, but three points against Zurich is vital given that their last match is in Marseille, who lie just a point behind.

UPDATE: Gonzalo Higuain scored the only goal as Real Madrid beat Zurich to go top of Group C. Los Blancos moved on to 10 points to replace AC Milan at the summit after the Italian side were held to 1-1 by Marseille at the San Siro.
