UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid vs. Lyon

Real Madrid vs Lyon Live Stream UEFA Champions LeagueThe first leg of the much-awaited UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash between Real Madrid and Olympique Lyonnais will start tonight at around 20:45 CET and I know a lot of football enthusiasts will be tuning in to witness this massive encounter.

Los Blancos take on their French counterparts hoping to reach the quarter-finals of for the first time since 2004. And the return of former Lyon striker Karim Benzema, who left his hometown club for Madrid last year, provides an interesting subplot to this fixture.

Benzema was ruled out of Saturday’s La Liga win over Xerez and it was thought he would also miss the trip to France with an injury. However, the 22-year-old has been included in the traveling squad to face Les Gones after recovering sufficiently.

These two teams have not met in the knockout stages of Champions League play, but the French side has defeated Real both previous times the teams have met in France.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men came through Group C having topped the standings with 13 points while Lyon emerged unscathed from Group E having defeated English club Liverpool to grab second spot.

Los Blancos are currently second in La Liga while Claude Puel’s team is fourth in French Ligue 1.
