UFC 104 Results

UFC 104 Results are in and Lyoto Machida remains the UFC light heavyweight champion after a five-round unanimous decision win over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua Saturday night at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

“I trained hard for this fight. I feel like I won this fight,” said Rua, who pushed Machida into deep waters he had never seen in his 16 fight pro career.

“It’s the most difficult fight I had in the UFC,” said Machida, who had not lost a round, let alone a fight in his seven previous trips to the Octagon.

With scores of 48-47 across the board for Machida, the final decision was greeted with boos by the audience. Some saw the bout in favor of Shogun while the judges went for the Brazilian.

Lyoto improved his stats to 16 wins with 0 losses and became the first UFC light heavyweight champion since Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson to successfully defend the crown.
