UFC 127 Live Stream: Penn vs. Fitch
UFC 127 Live Stream: B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch are undeniably two of the top welterweights in the UFC, but on Sunday, February 27, only one of them will have the right to claim as the number one challenger to the throne of George St-Pierre as they clash in the main event of UFC 127.
UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch marks the second time that the company is taking its act Down Under following the success of UFC 110 last year, and Dana White couldn’t have picked a better main card than to feature a former two-division champion and one of the winningest fighter in UFC history.
Penn appears to have recovered from his two stinging defeats to Frankie Edgar last year by knocking out Matt Hughes in UFC 123. However, Penn will be facing a man out to get another crack at the welterweight title that has eluded him for so long. Fitch, criticized for being boring due to his unexciting yet effective fighting style, has won his last five fights since losing to St-Pierre in August 2008—all by decision. On paper, Fitch appears to be the favorite owing to his size advantage and known durability in long, drawn-out fights. Fitch is widely expected to get some clinches and look to drain Penn’s energy as the fight wears on. Penn, on the other hand, will most likely rely on his proven takedown defense and athleticism to negate Fitch’s advantage in strength. Expect this fight to go down the wire if an inspired Penn shows up.
Meanwhile, Michael Bisping and Jorge Rivera will square off in the main supporting match. The fight is especially important to Bisping as a win could finally signal that he is ready to mix it up with the high-profile fighters in the UFC. The 38-year-old Rivera, despite his age, has racked up three-straight wins, marking a resurgence of sort for one of the old timers in the UFC. However, if Rivera chooses to engage in a slugfest, Bisping may just have enough to end his opponent’s winning streak.
The rest of the main cards include: George Sotiropoulos vs. Dennis Siver in a lightweight contender eliminator; Chris Lytle vs. Brian Ebersole in a welterweight clash; and Kyle Noke vs. Chris Camozzi in a middleweight match.
