UFC 130 Results: Jackson, Mir Dominate
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson tried in vain to score a knockout, but eventually settled for a unanimous decision victory on Saturday over an ineffective Matt Hamill in the main card of UFC 130 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Jackson used his stand-up skills to the hilt to score the points, and then clamped down on defense to deny every take down attempt by Hamill en route to a lopsided 30-27 score in each scorecard. Jackson landed several power shots to the face, including one that left Hamill blooded from the mouth before the end of the first round. Hamill showed the toughness that allowed him to win his previous five fights, but just could not break into Jackson’s solid defense.
Meanwhile, Frank Mir moved closer to completing his mission to become a champion again, dominating Ultimate Fighter 10 winner Roy Nelson in the co-main event. Mir, who has lost his last two title fights, easily won against Nelson via unanimous decision, with scores of 30-27, 30-27, 30-26, to improve his chance of getting another title shot.
