UFC 133 Results: Evans Beats Ortiz; Belfort KOs Akiyama

Rashad Evans showed no signs of a long layoff, dominating Tito Ortiz from the opening bell of their UFC 133 main event match on Saturday en route to a second-round TKO victory.

Ortiz landed the first shots of the fight but Evans took control in the middle of the first round with punches to different parts of Ortiz’s body. Evans took down Ortiz towards the end of the round, ending it with several hits to the head. The second round saw a similar pattern as Ortiz tried to keep Evans in a guillotine. Evans, however, was able to wriggle out before he finally landed a knee to the body that had Ortiz crumbling. Evans followed it with several strikes before finishing it with another knee, this time to the solar plexus to end Ortiz’s challenge.

In the co-main bout, Vitor Belfort demolished Yoshiro Akiyama with a first-round knockout victory. Belfort landed a strong left to the temple of Akiyama, dropping the Japanese judoka to the floor. The Brazilian Belfort followed the powerful punch with a barrage of lefts but Akiyama was able to escape and get back on his feet. Not for long, though, as Belfort landed another punch barrage that finally put down the Japanese for good at the 1:52-mark of the opening round.
