UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs Dos Santos
Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos will headline the UFC’s debut on a mainstream television network as UFC on Fox takes place Saturday with the UFC heavyweight championship belt on the line.
Velasquez will defend his UFC Heavyweight Championship title against dos Santos in the main event of the first product of UFC’s partnership with Fox network. Velasquez has had a relatively trouble-free path to the top of the heavyweight class, including the surprisingly quick TKO victory against Brock Lesnar on October 23, 2010. However, Velasquez has not fought since then because of an injury he suffered in the Lesnar fight. Dos Santos, on the other hand, is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Shane Carwin at UFC 131 on June 11 and is looking forward to ending the year with a bang.
Velasquez expects a war against dos Santos, who possesses one of the best boxing skills in the division. The defending champion said dos Santos is dangerous because he is a well-rounded fighter. “There’s not any area that he lacks in. He’s going to be tough in all areas. That’s what we expect from him,” Velasquez said.
Serving as supporting matches on UFC on Fox: Velasquez vs Dos Santos are: Ben Henderson vs Clay Guida, Dustin Poirier vs Pablo Garza, and Cub Swanson vs Ricardo Lamas, along with six other fights.
