Unhappy Millionaire Giving Away Fortune
In a world where some people are willing to kill or be killed to protect whatever fortune they have, it is surprising to find out that there are still those who are ready to throw away all their material wealth. Take this Austrian millionaire for example. Karl Rabeder, who made a fortune selling home furnishings and accessories, is giving away all of his more than $ 4 million wealth.
The 47-year-old businessman said his fortune has made him unhappy; hence he is giving it to charity. “My idea is to have nothing left. Absolutely nothing,” he said in an interview with The Daily Telegraph. Rabeder raffled off his $2.6-million Alpine home by selling lottery tickets at $ 135 each. He sold almost 22,000 tickets, with all proceeds going to his microcredit charity that provides small loans to poor people in Latin American countries.
Rabeder also sold his Audi A8 and six gliders. Still up for grabs is his 17-hectare farmhouse in Provence. He said that he decided to give away his wealth after realizing that there is a connection between his wealth and the poverty of other people.
