Universal Music Signs Kris Allen
American Idol season eight winner Kris Allen has signed a contract with Universal Music Publishing Group. The deal states that Universal will have exclusive worldwide publishing and distribution rights of the idol’s music and compositions.
“I look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Monti Olsson and the creative staff at Universal Music Publishing Group,” Allen said. Olsson is a senior vice president at Universal.
Allen, 24 years old, married and a native of Conway, Arkansas, has a variety of talents which range from good vocals, song composition, arranging compositions, rearranging familiar songs, amazing vocals, and playing several instruments which includes a variety of guitars, keyboards, drums, the viola, and the piano.
His self-titled album was released last November 2009 under Jive Records. It sold 250,000 copies with the single Live Like We’re Dying reaching number 18 in the Billboard charts.
Other Idol alumni currently under contract with Universal are Chris Daughtry and Jason Castro.
