US Open 2009: Melanie Oudin vs. Caroline Wozniacki

Melanie Oudin, the American teenager with the vicious forehand, takes on world No. 9 Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark tonight in a U.S. Open quarterfinal match.

Oudin has been the biggest story in this year’s tennis tournament, having ousted three Russians on her way to this round. She is also the youngest American to advance to the quarterfinals since Serena Williams in 1999.

The 17-year-old Georgia native first drew major notice this summer at Wimbledon, where she upset former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic en route to a fourth-round showing.

The match kicks-off at 7:00 p.m. ET at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

UPDATE: Caroline Wozniacki ended Melanie Oudin’s run at the U.S. Open, eliminating the teen sensation with a 6-2, 6-2 victory that puts her in the semifinals of the tournament. Wozniacki will play for a berth in the final against 19-year-old Belgian Yanina Wickmayer.
