US Open 2009: Andy Roddick vs. John Isner
Fifth seed Andy Roddick is ready for his latest encounter against the giants when he faces 6ft 9in John Isner at Arthur Ashe Stadium later this afternoon.
The new and improved Roddick defeated Marc Gicquel of France 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the third round of the tournament.
Isner’s presence in this episode of the U.S. Open is a little bit of a surprise because he has almost always been a Grand Slam bust.
UPDATE: John Isner upset fellow American Andy Roddick in a five-set thriller (7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 5-7, 7-6) to advance to the fourth round of the tournament.
