Team USA’s first game in the Vancouver Olympics women’s hockey event went very well, with a 12-1 victory over China on Sunday.

Jenny Potter scored three goals at the UBC Thunderbird Arena to give her a career points record for an American woman at the Olympics. Her all-time Olympic points total is now 26, which surpasses retired player Katie King who has 23.

Meghan Duggan added a brace, while Natalie Darwitz and Julie Chu each had a goal and two assists for the Americans, who will face Russia on Tuesday.

China’s consolation goal came through Jin Fengling with 2:21 left.
