Baseball star Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez has admitted to prior steroid use during an interview Monday with ESPN.

The New York Yankees third baseman told Peter Gammons that he took steroids while playing with the Texas Rangers from 2001-2003.

”It feels good coming out and being completely honest,” Rodriguez told Gammons.

Sports Illustrated broke the story on Saturday, claiming that the three-time American League MVP tested positive for banned substances during the 2003 season.

According to SI sources, Rodriguez’s name appears on a list of 104 players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball’s 2003 survey testing.

Responding to the article written by Selena Roberts and David Epstein that he failed a steroid test, Rodriguez offered his side of the story.

“Back then it was a different culture,” Rodriguez said. ”It was very loose. I was young. I was stupid. I was naive, and I wanted to prove to everyone that, you know, I was worth [a recently signed $252 million contract with the Texas Rangers].”

I wonder if there is another sport out there as corrupt as baseball. Even in the early 1900's people were cheating in baseball. Players on the White Sox got banned from the game for throwing the world series.

This sport is in a world of hurt right now while Football and Basketball are as popular as ever.

Here is a great article showing the past and present of baseball and steroids

    Good Luck!
  • if A-Rod (A-Roid?) had used steroids i would have expected him to get a lot more "huge" like Bonds of McGuire

I have come across dozens of articles related to steroids use in sport. After documenting this aspect, my conclusion is that almost all athletes use steroids at one time or another. they can buy steroids online ensuring total privacy, use them during training and flush them out before an event where they will get tested.
