Villarreal CF vs. Genoa

Villarreal will have one more exhibition match before the start of the new La Liga season. And although victories in friendly competitions don’t hold much importance, they can help in the team’s preparations. Last week, the Spanish side made a strong impression by the winning 4-1 before Juventus FC.

During the 2004–05 season Villarreal finished in 3rd in La Liga, earning the club their first direct qualification to the UEFA Champions League.

Genoa is not a bad competitor in Serie A. Last season, they had 68 points and just stand behind three big teams: AC Milan, Inter and Juventus. And during their long history, Genoa have won the Italian Football Championship nine times.

The match kicks-off tonight at 9:00 p.m. CET (3:00 p.m. ET).
