Vladimir Klitschko KOs Eddie Chambers

Vladimir Klitschko fulfilled his promise to knock out Eddie Chambers in their heavyweight championship fight at the Duesseldorf football stadium in Germany en route to retaining his IBO, WBO, and IBF titles. The 33-year-old Klitschko, however, needed all but five seconds of their scheduled 12-round bout to knock out an outmatched but game Chambers.

Leading in all of the judges’ scorecards, Klitschko landed a left hook that sent Chambers fumbling into the ropes, forcing the referee to call it a night. Klitschko hurt Chambers in the second round but the challenger known for his speed was able to hold on and survive the champion’s attack.

Chambers, who came into the fight with an impressive 35-1 win-loss record, failed to break into Klitschko’s defense and was kept at bay by the champion’s stinging jobs. In a post-fight interview, Klitschko gave credit to the efforts of Chambers, who is widely considered one of the best American heavyweights today. “Chambers is very fast and super strong,” Klitschko said.
