On August 23, 2009, the 58th Miss Universe will be crowned at the Atlantis Paradise Island, in the beautiful Island of Nassua, Bahamas.
84 countries and territories from around the world will compete for the title of Miss Universe 2009.
The competition will run on its usual format. Judges will select the top 15 from 84 beautiful contestants. These ladies will be judged based from the swimsuit and evening gown competition and the first round interview. From 15, the candidates will be cut down to 10 and whoever obtains the highest tallied scores will advance to final final 5.
The reigning Miss Universe, Dayana Mendoza, will crown her successor upon the proclamation of the winner.
The Miss Universe 2009 pageant will be hosted by Bill Bush and Claudia Jordan with live performances by hip-hop artist Flo Rida, David Guetta, Kelly Rowland and reality star Heidi Montag.

UPDATE: Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez is Miss Universe 2009!
Stefania Fernandez, 18, was crowned Miss Universe 2009 by outgoing titleholder Dayana Mendoza, also from Venezuela.
The first runner-up title went to Ada de la Cruz of Dominican Republic, while Miss Kosovo Gona Dragusha got the 2nd runner-up crown.
