Golden Globes Awards 2011 Live Stream

Golden Globe Awards Live Stream: With the Golden Globes ready to kick off in a few hours, I only care for three things to happen: The King’s Speech to win Best Picture, Christian Bale to win for Best Supporting Actor (The Fighter) and Boardwalk Empire to win Best Television Series.

Before the nominations were handed out, I was actually rooting for True Grit to win Best Picture. Unfortunately, the Coen Brothers’ remake of the Oscar-winning 1969 Western will not be taking home any honors because the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave the box office hit a cold shoulder.

Ricky Gervais will host the ceremonies that will be televised live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, where they have been held annually since 1961. The 49-year-old British comedian is back to host the presentations for the second year in a row, even though he swore prior to hosting last year that he would do it only once.

Expect a memorable night from Gervais, who back in 2004 won a Globe himself for his performance in the UK version of The Office. In an interview this week with Ellen DeGeneres, Gervais said that he plans to throw shots in the directions of Charlie Sheen and last year’s target Mel Gibson.

“Charlie Sheen has obviously put his head above the parapet,” he told Ellen on her talk show.

According to the Daily Star, Justin Bieber, who will present one of the awards with Zac Efron, is worried about being targeted by the British actor.

The Golden Globes are a key marker on the road to the Oscars and lot of pundits have tipped Colin Firth for an Academy Award on February 27. Firth is a clear favorite to win for best dramatic actor for The King’s Speech, in which he plays Queen Elizabeth II’s father, King George VI, amid his struggle to overcome a debilitating stammer.

In the best actress in a drama category, Natalie Portman has received a nomination for her role in the psychological thriller Black Swan. Robert De Niro, meanwhile, will get the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his “outstanding contribution to the entertainment field.”
