‘We Are the World 25 for Haiti’ debuts in Vancouver Olympics (video)

We Are the World Haiti Video

The updated version of We Are the World, called We Are the World 25 for Haiti, premiered Friday during NBC’s coverage of the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the video, we got to hear the sound of some 85 artists, from teen sensation Justin Bieber to rap superstar Kanye West, lifting their voices as one to help raise funds for earthquake relief in Haiti.

Michael Jackson, who co-wrote the original track with Lionel Richie, is shown in a clip from the original music video. In the remake, the late King of Pop sings alongside his sister, Janet.

I think the updated take was horribly oversung, but perhaps you’ll disagree. Let us know what you think by writing on the comments section below.

  1. I was very moved by the we are the world 2010 video, I can’t imagine someone saying ot was over- sung. It was absolutely wonderful and unifying.

  2. I think the new version of “We are the World” is truly beautiful. I loved it, loved it, loooved it. It showed a great deal of divesity in a unified fashion.

  3. I don't think it oversung but if it is who cares. It's for a good cause and at least they're doing something. No need to hate.

  4. I don't think it was oversung and if it was who cares. They're doing a good thing, they could just sit by and do nothing!

  5. AWESOME…….Loved it. What a great 2010 vibe put on a song that is 25 years old. It was inspirational, beautiful, and I sang along with every word.

  6. This was a great song and i wrote verse of my own song that you would probably:
The rain began to fall but by faith they stood tall and through it all they stood together through stormy weather but always remember that by faith anything is possible and together they stood through the improbable So we are the world….Woo

  7. i think that it was sung well but i like the first much better. i really like the end of this one though. My vote may be a bit bias though because i like the artists in the other one better. Even if you dont agree with others thoughts, this was for a good cause and it is the wonderful thought that counts.

  8. some areas I could agree maybe are over sung but overall it is very good. great to see the “powers that be” realize the power and influence of hip hop and added artist like LL, Busta, Swizz, Kanye and even Lil Wayne and T Pain with Auto-tune love it lol
