White iPhone 4 thicker than black model
Apple’s white iPhone 4 is finally available to consumers after months of delay. However according to reports, the white version of the popular smartphone is thicker than the black model. While the difference between the two is not that much (roughly 0.2mm), some cases made for the black iPhone 4 won’t properly fit the white one.
So why is the white iPhone 4 thicker? CNN says “the leading theory on the white phone’s gain in girth is that extra coating was needed to keep light out of the phone so the camera would work.”
The white phone was initially slated to launch along with the black model in June 2010, but production problems forced Apple to delay the device’s release.
