Whitney Houston Enters Rehab Program

Whitney Houston has reportedly started a rehab program to treat drug and alcohol addiction, a problem that the singer has been battling for the past several years.

A rep for Houston confirmed to People that the 47-year-old singer “voluntarily” sought help. “Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment,” her rep said in a statement. “Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.” Houston, whose drug and alcohol woes have been media fodder for so long, reportedly started treatment some 10 days ago.

Houston’s legacy of being one of the most successful singers in history has been tainted by her past drug and alcohol addiction, which had led her to enter rehab for the first time in 2004 and again the following year. In 2009, she happily told the public that she had defeated her addictions and was back in good health and ready to hit the comeback trail. However, her 2010 tour belied that claim as she had to cancel some shows due to health problems.
