Wii Games Open with Shawn Johnson
The Wii Games have begun and who better should be there in the opening but an Olympic gold medalist.
Shawn Johnson, 18, is the 2008 Beijing Olympics champion for women’s balance beam event. She also won the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars.
Marching together with Mario and Luigi, the Wii Games ambassador opened the summer-long event in Liberty State Park, in New Jersey.
Children, teens, adults, seniors and families from all ages can compete in age-related two-person and four-person teams in five activities. These activities include basketball three-point shooting and bowling in Wii Sports Resort, the hula hoop challenge from Wii Fit Plus, a coin collection level from New Super Mario Bros. Wii and racing in Mario Kart Wii.
The competitions are conducted in some malls and Six Flags amusement parks around the United States starting this weekend until mid-August.
Winners may win a cruise, home entertainment systems, Nintendo systems and games and trophies.
