Wimbledon 2009: Andy Roddick vs. Jurgen Melzer
Andy Roddick will put his friendship with Jurgen Melzer temporarily to one side when the pair collide in the third round of the Wimbledon Championships this afternoon.
Roddick holds a perfect 8-0 advantage in the head-to-head series with the 26th-ranked Austrian, winning their last match at the 2008 tournament in Japan. But Jurgen is tough and talented and he likes coming forward so it won’t be easy for the sixth-seeded American to defeat him.
The 28-year-old Austrian left-hander looks to advance to the round of 16 at SW19 for the first time in eight attempts.
The match starts at 13:00 local time (08:00 ET).
UPDATE: Andy Roddick advanced with a four-set win over Jurgen Melzer in a third-round match at the Wimbledon Championships. The scores were 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 6-3.
