World Cup 2010: Argentina vs. South Korea Live Stream [UPDATED]
World Cup Live Stream: Former champions Argentina could become the first qualifiers for the next round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup if they beat South Korea in Johannesburg this afternoon. Both sides won their respective opening matches, so the winner here has a very high percentage to qualify to the knock-out stages.
La Albiceleste claimed the title in 1974 and 1986 and have arrived in South Africa as one of the favorites. They defeated Nigeria 1-0 but the South Americans wasted a lot of chances to make the victory definitive. Lionel Messi had several chances to put the Super Eagles to the sword, but goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama prevented him every time.
A draw wouldn’t be disastrous for Diego Maradona’s side, as their last match of the group stage is against Greece, who was edged out by South Korea 2-0 in the Group B opener, thanks to goals from Lee Jung-Soo and captain Park Ji-Sung.
Park, who plays for Manchester United, said that the encounter against La Albiceleste would be crucial in the South Koreans advancing beyond the group stage. He has has provided his team-mates with a scouting report on Argentina stiker Carlos Teves who also played for the Old Trafford club.
“We have played together and I think it is great that we will play against each other, but this is not just a friendly, this is the greatest place to play football,” the 29-year-old skipper told Sky Sports.
The match kicks-off at 13:30 CET (7:30 a.m. ET).
UPDATE: A hat-trick by Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain helped Argentina beat South Korea 4-1. But the Asians can still reach the next round as they lie on three points having beaten Greece 2-0 in their opening game.
