World Cup 2010: Paraguay vs. Slovakia Live Stream [UPDATED]
Paraguay and Slovakia led in their opening games before conceding an equalizer, and a win this afternoon at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein will have a major impact on their futures at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Paraguay has some formidable strikers, with coach Gerardo Martino expected to pair Lucas Barrios and his Borussia Dortmund team-mate Nelson Valdez in the 4-3-3 formation. South American teams, led by Argentina, have so far been the main source of entertainment at this year’s tournament, posting up five victories and two draws.
By holding defending champions Italy to a stalemate in their first match, Paraguay improved its chances of advancing to the Round of 16. The Guaranies are more experienced in international competitions but Slovakia does have quality players as well. The Central Europeans are appearing for the first time in the World Cup, previously involved as part of the former Czechoslovakia.
“We are physically and theoretically prepared for Paraguay. We will also have to be more disciplined,” coach Vladimir Weiss said.
Napoli star Marek Hamsik is Slovakia’s best player and one of the most underrated midfielders in football today, and Paraguay should take him seriously.
The match kicks-off at 13:30 CET (7:30 a.m. ET).
UPDATE: The Guaranies eased to a 2-0 win over Slovakia in their Group G match through goals by Enrique Vera and Cristian Riveros.
