World Cup 2010: Spain vs. Honduras Live Stream [UPDATED]
At the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, most pundits backed La Furia Roja to win the tournament. However, things got a bit out of hand for Vicente del Bosque’s men as they suffered a disappointing loss to Switzerland in their opening match.
Spain controlled the ball for much of the game, but a lone goal by Saint-Etienne midfielder Gelson Fernandes put them to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Swiss. But with Chile beating Honduras in their first match, the race to qualify for the Round of 16 is now wide open.
The biggest question is will Fernando Torres start for Spain? Last Wednesday, Del Bosque left the 26-year-old Liverpool hitman on the bench and played two holding midfielders–Xabi Alonso and Sergio Busquets. David Villa was the only one up front, that left Torres and Cesc Fabregas out of the starting XI. The prolific Arsenal midfielder didn’t even come on as a substitute.
Meanwhile, the European champions are set to be without influential playmaker Andres Iniesta because of a thigh injury he suffered during the Switzerland game.
The match kicks-off at 20:30 CET (2:30 p.m ET).
UPDATE: Goals by David Villa saw Spain beat Honduras 2-0 but their win was not quite enough for coach Del Bosque.
“It hasn’t been a great match,” the former Real Madrid tactician told reporters. We had glorious opportunities and many opportunities so I think we should have won this by more goals.”
