World Cup 2010 Qualifying: Argentina vs. Uruguay

This match will be decisive for both teams.

Diego Maradona’s side will face Uruguay in Montevideo and need to take points to have an opportunity to advance.

Last Saturday, Uruguay eliminated Ecuador 2-1 on the road to put itself in the driver’s seat for a spot in football’s grandest showcase.

It’s going to be a tough game for them because Albicelestes are an opponent with lots of prestige. However Uruguay shouldn’t consider beating them impossible.

The Argentines are currently in fourth place, and a loss to La Celeste Olímpica would mean, at very best, they would have to qualify via a playoff.

In a recent interview, Lionel Messi said: ”We’ll play at the World Cup. I trust in my national team. We’ll do our best to clinch a win there, even though it won’t be an easy game.”

The match kicks-off at 6:00 p.m. ET.

UPDATE: Albicelestes sealed their place at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa after securing a 1-0 victory in Uruguay.
