World Cup 2010 Qualifying: Spain vs. Bosnia
Tonight, the Spaniards go into the match in Zenica looking to make it 10 wins out of 10 in Group Five, but it will to be a tough task for La Roja because the team is missing some key players.
Xavi Hernandez, Carlos Marchena, Daniel Guiza and David Villa are injured, while Carles Puyol is suspended.
A number of Spanish newspapers have also reported that Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is highly unlikely to play.
“Torres has pain when moving, especially when striking the ball with his right foot. He has a problem with his abductor which is swollen,” his doctor said.
If they beat Bosnia this evening, Spain will become the third team that made the qualifying stage to a World Cup winning all games, after Brazil for 1970 and Germany for 1982.
The match kicks-off at 8:00 p.m. CET (2:00 p.m. ET).
UPDATE: Spain made it 10 wins out of 10 to qualify for World Cup 2010 with a perfect record after a 5-2 victory against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Gerard Pique, David Silva, Juan Mata, Edin Dzeko and Zvjezdan Misimovic all scored for La Roja.
