World Series: Texas Rallies for Game 5 Win
The Texas Rangers are one win away from a first-ever World Series title after rallying from two runs down on Monday in a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
Mitch Moreland and Adrian Beltre hit a solo home run each off St. Louis ace Chris Carpenter in the third and sixth innings to help the Rangers get back in the game after the Cardinals scored twice against Texas starter C.J. Wilson in the second inning. Mike Napoli completed the Texas rally with a two-run scoring double in the eighth. “I was trying to stay short and I got a pitch I could handle over the middle of the plate and put it in the gap,” Napoli said of the hit that could be the turning point of the Series.
Neftali Feliz earned his second save while Darren Oliver got the win in a relief effort. Octavio Dotel took the loss for the Cardinals, who face a do-or-die situation at Busch Stadium on Wednesday after losing two in a row for the first time this postseason.
