Yao Ming Considers Retirement
Chinese basketball star and Houston Rockets center Yao Ming has said that he might be headed for his final season if his repaired foot will prevent him from regaining his playing form.
In an interview with media in his native China, Yao said he will consider retiring after the 2010-2011 NBA season if his foot will not completely heal. Yao missed the whole of the past season after having his foot surgically repaired. He has participated in some drills but it is not clear how far he is in his recovery. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said Yao is expected to be ready when training camp officially begins in September.
The Rockets are hoping to have a healthy Yao back in their lineup after missing the playoffs in the previous season. The team also acquired center Brad Miller from the Chicago Bulls in a bid to shore up their frontline, which includes the vastly improved Luis Scola.
