Venezuela Wins Miss International 2010

19-year-old beauty from Venezuela bagged the Miss International 2010 title Sunday, November 7, in Chengdu, China.

Elizabeth Mosquera beat out 69 other contestants to win the crown. This edition, the 50th year, broke the pageant’s record for most number of entrants. The South American beauty was crowned by Miss International 2009 Anagabriela Espinoza of Mexico.

Named first runner-up was Piyaporn Deejing of Thailand while Si Yi Yuan of China took the second runner-up honors. Countries who made it to the top 15 include Costa Rica, France, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Serbia, Spain and Turkey.

Special Awards were also given during the ceremonies. The three most notable ones are Zukhriatul Hafizah of Indonesia as Miss Friendship, Gabriela Palacio Diaz of Mexico as Miss Photogenic and Lilian Lopes Pireira as Best in National Costume. Krista Arrieta Kleiner of the Philippines won two special awards (Miss Talent and Miss Expressive), the most out of the contestants.

Mosquera’s win was the sixth for Venezuela in the annual tilt. That’s the most wins by any country in the pageant with the Philippines at second place with four.
