What is the Bing Translation Quiz?
Bing Translation is a free service that can help you translate from one language to another. The Bing Translation Quiz is an interactive tool that helps you test your knowledge of the language pairs supported by Bing. The quiz consists of multiple-choice questions about the definitions and pronunciations of words in the selected pair. Your goal is to get as many questions correct as possible within a time limit—ideally, five minutes or less.
To help you prepare for the Bing Translation Quiz, we’ve created this guide detailing how it works and what languages are available. We’ll also explain when this quiz takes place and what types of questions are asked during each round!
How It Works
The Bing Translation Quiz is a game that tests your ability to translate sentences.
You’re given a sentence in the target language, and you must translate it into your native language.
The quiz has two parts: translation and vocabulary. In both sections, you have 30 seconds to complete the quiz. The only way to see your answers (and receive a score) is by submitting them at the end of each section—so be sure to click “Done” before pressing “Submit.”
What Languages Are Available
You can translate text in the following languages:
- English, French, German, Spanish (English)
To change the language that Bing Translator uses for translations:
- Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of your Bing homepage.
- In the dropdown menu, click Settings. This opens your account settings page where you can change a variety of display settings on your browser—for instance, what color theme you’d like to use or which fonts are used for webpages and results pages. You can also choose which language should be used in search engine results pages by selecting an option from this list of languages that’s supported by Bing Translator (English). If you don’t see a particular language listed here but want more options available when translating text online with this tool, it means that our data scientists haven’t yet added support for it!
When Does the Quiz Take Place
The Bing Translation Quiz is open to everyone, but only those who are invited can participate. Invitations are sent out via email and social media on the first Wednesday of every month at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time (PST). You’ll receive an invitation if you’re eligible for the quiz and have provided your email address when you signed up to be invited.
If you don’t receive invites when they’re distributed, please check that your contact information is current by logging into your Microsoft account—you should see a page like this:
If there’s an incorrect email address or phone number listed for you, update it by going to “Edit my profile” under “Account settings.” If no address appears here, then we don’t have one for you and need more time before inviting someone new.
Understanding how the Bing Translation quiz works can help you prepare for the quiz.
The Bing Translation Quiz is a fun way to test your knowledge of languages and to learn more about the differences between them. It’s also a great way to earn free Microsoft Rewards points!
Participants who complete the quiz correctly will receive 250 Microsoft Rewards points for completing Phase I of this week’s challenge and additional rewards based on their final score from Phase II (limited number of opportunities). Points earned in Phase I do not carry over into Phase II, so try as hard as you can each day!
