3D Games now available in Playstation 3
Sony announced that the Playstation 3 will now be able to play 3D games starting tomorrow as part of a new firmware. Four games were announced to have been given the 3D effects.
The four games are Wipeout HD, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, Super Stardust HD and Pain.
The firmware update is free. The problem is one would need a 3D television for that.
Incidentally, Sony also launched at the same time their 3D-ready XBR-LX900 series of edge-lit LED televisions. The 60-inches model will cost $5,000. The smallest version which is at 40 inches costs $2,100. They have an anti-glare panel, integrated Wi-Fi, automatic backlight dimming, and the requisite 3D glasses, which comes in two pairs.
The four games will come free upon a purchase of a Sony 3D TV.
Another game, The Fight: Lights Out, will be released in time with the Playstation Move, the console’s upcoming motion-sensing game controller.
The company also noted that 3D Blu-ray movie playback is also coming to the PS3 this year via firmware update.
