Alice in Wonderland Joins Billion Dollar Movies Club
The film Alice in Wonderland (2010) joined an elite group of movies to have crossed the billion dollar unadjusted sales worldwide.
According to Box Office Mojo, the film crossed the mark May 27 and now stands at 1,000,070,579 USD.
The film became the sixth movie to join the group. It is the second 3D movie to do so, the first being Avatar which is now the world’s highest grossing film of all time at 2.7 billion dollars. Alice is the second film produced and released by Walt Disney to achieve the feat, the first one being Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
It is also the only billionaire film that was released during springtime.
It is of course, the current highest grossing film for the year 2010.
The other films to have a ten-digit sales are Titanic, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Dark Knight.
Home media for the film will be released on June 1 in the United States and July 1 for Australia.
