All products of Slim Fast that are in can are being recalled by Unilever. The recall is in effect to all canned products regardless of flavor, best-by-date, lot number or UPC number.  The drinks are suspected to be contaminated with the microorganism Bacillus cereus. It causes diarrhea, nausea, abdominal cramps and vomiting.slim-fast-diet-drink

About ten million units of the diet drink are currently distributed in many markets across the United States.

Consumption of the products more than a day ago should not cause any worry as the food poisoning with this kind of microorganism hits fast, short-lived and relatively mild, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The recall was the result of some unknown number of people getting sick about 6 to 15 hours after drinking the products. Fortunately, they all recovered within 24 hours. The Food and Drug Administration has not reported any injuries or death related to the recall.

Other products – in powdered shakes, meal bars and snack bars forms– are not part of the recall.
