Australian Open 2011: Federer vs. Wawrinka Live Stream (Free Online Video)
Australian Open 2011 Free Live Stream: Roger Federer faces compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka today at Rod Laver Arena for the quarterfinals of the 2011 Australian Open, the 99th edition of Asia Pacific’s Grand Slam.
The 25-year-old Wawrinka, who partnered Federer to Olympic gold in Beijing, is the second best tennis player in Switzerland. He is in the final four because he beat eighth seed Andy Roddick on Sunday– the American’s second straight sets defeat at Melbourne Park.
“I played an unbelievable match and it was one of my best, for sure,” the 19th seed said. “To beat Roddick in three sets, it’s really good for me. I have a lot of confidence.”
Federer, on the other hand, struggled to beat Frenchman Gilles Simon in five sets in round two and was given a scare by Spain’s Tommy Robredo before stumbling through 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 after 40 unforced errors. Roger is bidding for his fifth Australian title but he hasn’t been totally convincing in his games in Melbourne. You would hardly say the Swiss Maestro has been scratchy, but he has been pushed twice this tournament.
Federer and Wawrinka have met seven times before and the world No. 2 has defeated his countryman in six occasions. The game will start not before 12:30 p.m. Melbourne time.
UPDATE: Roger Federer advanced to his eighth straight semifinal at Melbourne Park, beating compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka 6-1, 6-3, 6-3.
