‘Avatar’ Makes a Comeback
The highest grossing film of all time will be hitting theaters again to generate more sales.
Avatar: Special Edition will hit the United States theaters coming August 27. This time the film will only be released in digital 3D and IMAX 3D. It will have extra eight minutes of footage. International release dates will be announced at the film’s official website.
Avatar currently stands at 2.7 billion dollars in worldwide sales toppling another James Cameron film on its way to the top spot. That other film, Titanic is at 1.8 billion dollars, making Cameron the probable richest director out there, then here comes the extended version.
“Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora and wished they could have stayed there longer,” Cameron said. “So we’re making that possible.” He said that there will be “new creatures and action scenes” included in the extended footage.
Meanwhile, plans have been previously announced that Titanic will be converted in 3D. Well, that’s more money for Cameron.
