Bernard Hopkins vs. Roy Jones Jr. [UPDATED]
Hopkins vs. Jones Live Stream: 16 years ago two young boxers, Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins, met for a middleweight title match. We know Jones won the first title fight of his career via unanimous decision over Hopkins but once again, these two great fighters will meet for their rematch on Saturday, April 3, for HOPKINS-JONES: The Rivals.
Both of them are decorated boxers but also both are passed 40 years old. It took them several years to nail this deal and meet again for a light heavyweight fight.
“Sixteen years ago they fought each other and went on and made history in their own way,” said Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer. “Each one is considered today as ring royalty. That’s why I think when those two guys are going to fight it will be to determine who will be king of the ring. We went back and forth for so long, but we finally pulled it off. They both signed and they will fight. It will be a truly historic showdown. A lot of people didn’t believe it would ever happen. But guess what? It’s going to happen.”
Bernard Hopkins [Age 45, 50W (32 KOs), 5L (0 KO), 1D] is known for defending his middleweight title for 20 times in ten years. He is also the oldest boxer to ever hold the middleweight championship.
Roy Jones Jr. [Age 41, 50W (40 KOs), 6L (KO 3), 0D] has captured the IBF belts for the middleweight, super middleweight, and light heavyweight category. He also became a WBA heavyweight champion, his only fight in the category.
