British Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen Found Dead
Popular fashion designer Alexander McQueen has died. The lifeless body of the 40-year-old Londoner was found in his home on Thursday. Reports said McQueen, who is known for his outrageous and dramatic designs, was badly affected by the recent death of his mother. The designer reportedly posted angst-ridden messages on the Internet just before his death.
What caused the death of the former Givenchy head designer is still unclear. Authorities have said that there was no foul play involved in McQueen’s death, while British tabloid The Sun reported that workers found the designer hanging in his apartment.
McQueen played a big role in reviving the lethargic British fashion industry with designs that redefined the meaning of the word “daring” and “outrageous.” Among those he dressed up are high-profile celebrities like Madonna and Rihanna, as well as supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss.
People close to the sometimes reclusive designer said he was greatly affected by the death of his mother on February 2. Pressure to excel and set the bar higher in his coming fashion show in Paris may have also affected his mood.
