Carling Cup: Manchester City vs. Arsenal
The Gunners and the Citizens will fight for a place in the semifinals of the Carling Cup (League Cup) this evening.
Arsene Wenger’s men are entering this match after a huge defeat from Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium, while City from 3-3 draw at home to Burnley.
A victory against Arsenal would not only give the Citizens a place in the final four, but it would also end their unflattering run of seven straight draws this season.
With an injury crisis descending on the North London side, Wenger will try to rotate his players and give the younger members of his squad a chance to impress— players I’ve never heard of.
City, on the other hand, will no doubt look to play their strongest side, which of course means Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure will once again face up against their former club. And by the way, Robinho, Vincent Kompany and Micah Richards are fit again.
The previous meeting between these two teams turned into spectacular game and ended 4-2 for Mark Hughes’ side. Given City’s talent for drawing at the moment, there is a huge possibility that this game will go into extra time.
The match kicks-off at 19:45 GMT.
UPDATE: The Citizens scored three second-half goals for a 3-0 win over Arsenal and a meeting with defending champion Manchester United in the semifinals.
