Carlos Santana Proposes to Girlfriend Onstage
Grammy Award winning artist Carlos Santana proposed to his girlfriend Cindy Blackman onstage during a concert at Tinley Park, which is south of Chicago, Illinois.
Santana, who is turning 63 on July 20, made the proposal after performing four songs. The fourth song, Corazon Espinado, was a drum solo performance by Blackman, 50. After her spotlight performance, Santana popped the question. She answered yes.
“Cindy and I are blessed to have found each other,” Santana said. “Being in love is a gift from the universe, and the spirit and vibrations that come with it are infinitely powerful. I look forward to expressing that incredible energy through my music, and in helping to tip the balance toward more love in the world with what Cindy and I share.”
No words yet on when will be the wedding.
Santana was previously married to Deborah Santana for 30 years. She filed a divorce in 2007 citing irreconcilable differences. It was later revealed in her 2005 memoir Space Between the Stars that the guitarist cheated on her. He apologized to her after the publication promising that he will be a better man. They have three children.
Santana has already won 10 Grammy Awards and 3 Latin Grammy Awards.
