Daytime Emmys Honor Soon-to-be-Axed ‘As The World Turns’

as_the_world_turnsThe 37th Daytime Emmy Awards were held Sunday, June 27. The event was hosted by Regis Philbin.

As The World Turns, the longest running soap opera currently airing on television, picked up three major acting awards giving the show honors as it makes its final episode on September 17.  The show has been on the air since April 2, 1956 and has aired more than 10,000 episodes. CBS announced its cancellation last December 8, 2009.
