DioGuardi Leaves American Idol
It’s official. Fox ended the speculations on what is the fate of Kara DioGuardi as judge of the popular reality-competition series American Idol. The network confirmed that she would no longer be returning to the show Friday, September 3.
“I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol,” she said. “I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol — it has truly been an amazing experience.”
Her departure means three judges went out this year. She followed Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres. Randy Jackson, a pioneer judge of the show, is the only one remaining in the bench. Replacements, yet another source of endless speculations, have not been announced as of to date.
American Idol is entering its tenth season come January and auditions are nearly finished. Callback auditions are scheduled this month.
