‘Entourage’ Signing-Off in 2011
Executive producer Mark Wahlberg announced Saturday, August 7, that the HBO hit series Entourage will end in 2011.
The show will be back for an eighth season next year but with only six episodes to wrap things up. Then a movie might follow it.
“The plan right now is we’ll finish up this season. We’ll do a shorter order for next season — we’ve talked about six [episodes], [Creator Doug Ellin] … wants to write a film, but wants to do it if it makes sense for the story,” said Michael Lombardo, President of HBO programming. “But next summer will definitely be the final season of Entourage.”
Entourage began in 2004 and it is a comedy-drama series that follows the exploits of a movie star and his friends as they try to cope up with the Hollywood lifestyle. It is loosely based on Wahlberg’s experiences as an up-and-coming film star. The themes of the show centered on male friendship and wild life in Hollywood.
