Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg to donate $100 million to Newark schools
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg will donate $100 million to help improve Newark, New Jersey’s public schools, reports The New York Times. It would be the largest publicly acknowledged gift by the 26-year-old billionaire, who is surprisingly not from New Jersey.
Zuckerberg’s reasons for choosing the Newark public school system are not completely clear and details of how the funds will be specifically used have not been disclosed.
Facebook has over 500 million users world-wide. “The Social Network,” a fictionalized film version of Facebook’s early days comes out in October.
