Hockey World Cup 2010: Germany vs. Argentina
Field Hockey World Cup 2010: Top-ranked Germany beat lowly Canada 6-0 Wednesday to record its first win in the men’s field hockey World Cup in Delhi. It was the highest score in the World Cup in 32 years. Only a 7-0 victory over India in 1976 was bigger for the current world champions.
Today the Germans are up against Argentina, who was defeated 2-1 by South Korea in their match yesterday. Germany has four points from two fixtures in Pool A, while the Argentines, who also lost their opening game to Netherlands, remained winless.
The South Americans have to win this for them to open account in the competition and hope to survive place ahead. If the Germans come out victorious, they will get seven points from three matches and a possible semi-final berth.
UPDATE: Germany defeated Argentina 4-3 in an exciting match to move closer to a semi-final spot in their bid for a third straight World Cup.
