FlashForward Companion Site: The Mosaic Collective

FlashForward, one of the more interesting TV series in this fall’s program lineup, premiered Thursday, September 24, 2009, on ABC. Its pilot episode has garnered mostly favorable reviews and it has also spawned a companion site.

Reminiscent of Lost‘s penultimate season’s mind-bending time travel premise, FlashForward is a new sci-fi drama that tells the story of a strange phenomenon that caused the entire global population to simultaneously black out for two minutes and 17 seconds, within which time each of the seven billion people in the world saw a vision of his or her life six months in the future. A special team, headed by Los Angeles FBI agent Mark Benford (played by Joseph Fiennes), was subsequently formed to investigate the event, a task that involved gathering information on the “flash forwards” of people from all around the globe to be included in a special database called the Mosaic Collective. It was this element of the story that inspired the show’s Flash-based promotional companion site found here.
